Rural Program Data Set and Archive

Data and Archives

Maintained concurrently since 2000, with compiled data beginning in1976, Dr. Longenecker and a variety of collaborators have maintained an EXCEL workbook data set, including more than 50 data variables, for accredited active and closed rural residency programs under both the ACGME and the AOA, first in family medicine, now more recently in several other specialties. Since 2018 this data set includes rural tracks in medical schools and is updated each 6 months. It has been used extensively in research regarding rural medical education and training.
