The Rural Medical Training
Collaborative (RMTC)
is a cooperative of undergraduate and graduate medical programs. RMTC helps sustain health professions in rural communities through education, training, networking, mutual encouragement, and peer learning. RMTC’s participating programs support medical professionals passionate about the unique needs of rural people and places.

We know that rural communities face challenges in accessing care and tend to be older and sicker with more care needs. However, rural innovation is driven by these challenges and healthcare providers and medical educators work tirelessly to address them through creating a sustainable healthcare workforce.
Are you interested in exploring a program that prepares you for practice in underserved rural communities? RMTC’s participating programs are located throughout the country and:
- are primarily located in rural places, though some programs provide partial training in urban settings and may still be rurally focused
- offer a rural track program, pathway, or focus
- are focused on rural health outcomes and invested in preparing health professionals for rural practice
