Program Mission Statement

The Rural Family Medicine Residency prepares physicians to independently and competently practice full-spectrum family medicine. We accomplish this by providing a patient-centered medical home to all in our community, especially underserved minorities identified by income, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We strive to offer a diverse and inclusive clinical team of faculty, residents, and staff whose experiences and perspectives enhance the quality of our training, our care, and the lives of our patients.

Rural Family Medicine Clinic

About the clinic

Our Rural Family Medicine clinic is where residents learn to be family physicians. Throughout their three years of training, residents learn effective models of outpatient care, disease prevention, health promotion and practice management skills.

Aurora’s Care Management Initiatives give each resident constant feedback on practice-based improvement and the use of clinical protocols to optimize chronic disease management and prevention for their patients.

The Aurora Lakeland Family Medicine Clinic is where residents have their continuity clinic all three years. In PGY1, residents have continuity clinic one half-day per week, and then three to five half-days per week in PGY2 and PGY3.

The clinic is conveniently located in Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, providing easy access to ancillary services such as laboratory, radiology and physical therapy, as well as rounding on inpatients and obstetric patients.
