Central Maine Medical Center Rural Track Residency – Swift River

Lewiston
ME
Rural Track Program
Family Medicine

The State of Maine funded the four ACGME Sponsoring Institutions in Maine to create a first-of-its-kind collaboration in Maine to develop high quality rural residency rotations at hospitals and community-based healthcare centers across the state. CMMC FMR has a long history of commitment to rural education. Currently, we are a member of the Maine Rural Graduate Medical Education (MERGE) Collaborative, which is a partnership between the four Sponsoring Institutions in the state to expand rural training opportunities. The goal of this innovative collaboration is to develop high quality rural residency rotations at hospitals and community-based healthcare centers across the state with a focus on caring for Maine’s diverse socio-economic, racial and regional populations. To date, MERGE has created over 30 training sites in rural communities across Maine available to residents in all MERGE Collaborative sites, including CMMC. Additionally, all CMMC FMR residents complete a 4-week immersive rural medicine rotation in their intern year.
