Family Medicine

Rural 1-2 Program Our Rural 1-2 Family Medicine Program provides a hybrid training model that combines the resources of an academic
medical center with immersive, high-volume rural clinical experience. Residents complete their first year in a structured academic environment
and transition to a rural continuity site for PGY-2 and PGY-3, where they practice full-spectrum family medicine. Key features include: Full-spectrum rural training (including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency exposure), High continuity patient volume with broad pathology, Close
faculty mentorship and individualized training, Leadership and systems-based practice opportunities in rural healthcare delivery, Strong
community integration and longitudinal patient relationships. This model prepares graduates to confidently practice independent rural family
medicine while maintaining strong academic foundations.

Our program is committed to training physicians who are equipped to serve rural and medically underserved communities. Residents gain
hands-on procedural experience, meaningful community engagement, and exposure to population health challenges unique to rural settings.
We emphasize: Resident autonomy with appropriate supervision, Team-based care in resource-limited environments, Community-oriented
Primary care, Development of adaptable, resilient physicians prepared for real-world rural practice. Graduates are well-prepared for rural
practice, leadership roles, or further fellowship training
